New Estimation

This screen walks you through creating a draft estimate for a customer: pick who it's for, confirm the service and billing addresses, and optionally start from a service package before the draft is created.

What you can do here

• Find a customer. Type a name, company, or email into the search box. Matching customers appear in a dropdown; click one to select it.
• Create a new customer if no match is found, using the "Create new customer" button. This takes you to the new-contact screen and brings you back here afterward.
• Change the selected customer at any time with the "Change" button next to their name.
• Set the service address and billing address from the customer's addresses on file, using two separate dropdowns. If the customer has no addresses yet, you can add one with "Add address" without leaving this screen.
• Optionally attach a service package. Choosing a package is optional; if you pick one, a checkbox ("Add this package's line items to the estimate") lets you decide whether its line items are copied onto the new estimate or you'd rather start blank and add items yourself.
• Add notes the customer will see on the estimate.
• Create the estimation as a draft, or cancel back to the estimations list.

Steps

1. Search for the customer by name, company, or email, and select them from the results. If they don't exist yet, use "Create new customer" first.
2. Once a customer is selected, choose the service address and billing address from their addresses on file (or add a new address if none exist).
3. Optionally pick a service package to prefill the estimate, and choose whether to bring in its line items.
4. Add any notes the customer should see.
5. Click "Create estimation." You'll land on the new estimate's detail page, where you can add or adjust line items and issue it to the customer.
